The Clarksville Police Department, in collaboration with the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID), has made significant progress in the investigation of the murder of U.S. Army PFC Katia Duenas Aguilar, 23. Aguilar, who was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY, was found deceased on May 18, 2024 at a residence on Tiny Town Road in Clarksville, TN. Her death was ruled a homicide, sparking an extensive investigation.
THE INVESTIGATION AND ARRESTS
The investigation, led by Detective Hofinga of the Clarksville Police Department and Special Agent Gerardo Serriteno of Army CID, involved numerous detectives and officers. After months of thorough work, the case was presented to the Montgomery County Grand Jury in December 2024, resulting in the indictment of two individuals.
Sofia Rodas, 35, has been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Meanwhile, Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, Katia Dueñas Aguilar's husband, faces charges of tampering with evidence.
At the time of their indictment, both were already in federal custody on charges unrelated to the homicide. However, they were extradited to Clarksville on February 7, 2025, and transferred to the Montgomery County Jail, where they were served with their indictments.
