A Sunday with a Taste of Spring (Now)

We're experiencing unseasonably warm weather for late December. High temperatures today reached between 72°F and 74°F in Central Tennessee. However, don't be fooled by the heat; the wind is picking up and the atmosphere is becoming unstable.

  • A powerful cold front is approaching tonight. Here's what to expect while you sleep:

  • Wind Advisory: Active until 6:00 AM Monday. We expect sustained winds of 15–20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Secure your patio furniture!

  • Temperature Drop: The thermometer will plummet from the 70s to a low of 27°F to 31°F by dawn.

Rain to Snow? Rain is likely before midnight (100% chance). In some areas, as the temperature collapses, we might see some snowflakes or freezing drizzle before the sky clears.

Monday will be a "heat shock" compared to today. Although the sun will be out, the high will barely reach 33°F or 38°F. With wind gusts up to 25 mph, the wind chill will remain in the low 10s or 20s all day.

💡 Tips for Residents:

  • Prepare for Power Outages: With gusts up to 40 mph, power outages due to downed branches are possible. Charge your devices now.

  • Protect Your Pipes: Monday and Tuesday nights will have lows in the low 20s. Be sure to unplug outdoor hoses.

  • New Year's Eve: The good news? The intense cold will ease just in time for the countdown. It will be cold, but dry and clear for the celebrations.

Stay safe and warm, Middle Tennessee!
