The month of February has surprised us with drastic changes in the weather. We went from a relatively calm start to intense storms and torrential rain. Now, the third week of the month brings us a new challenge: a winter storm with accumulated snow and freezing temperatures.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Montgomery County, effective Tuesday at 9 p.m. through Wednesday at noon. Snow accumulation of 3 to 4 inches is expected, which could significantly impact road conditions, especially bridges and overpasses. In light of this situation, officials recommend taking extreme caution and carrying a flashlight, water, and food in case of emergencies.

PREPARING FOR EXTREME COLD
With snowfall and temperatures that could reach single digits, it is critical that residents take precautions. It is recommended to:
Avoid unnecessary travel and stay informed about road conditions.
Wear thermal and layered clothing to protect against extreme cold.
Check heating systems at home and avoid using combustion heaters without proper ventilation.
Stay hydrated and eat calorific foods to conserve body energy.
Protect pipes from freezing and ensure the well-being of pets and vulnerable people.
The combination of snow and freezing temperatures will mark the rest of the week, so it is crucial to continue to pay attention to weather updates. Stay warm, safe and prepared for this harsh winter blow.
